I am Ashley Gonzalez Medrano, a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner with a strong background in nursing and a deep commitment to providing quality care in the field of complex pain management and addiction medicine. With over a decade of experience in nursing, I've spent the last seven years making a positive impact in the lives of individuals struggling with pain and addiction.
Professional Journey
My journey into healthcare began at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, where I pursued my undergraduate studies. After completing my master's degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner at Grand Canyon University, I transitioned to the field of addiction medicine. I found my calling in this area because I'm deeply passionate about supporting and empowering individuals who often face a lack of resources and understanding in their journey towards recovery. I then ventured into pain management where many of my opiate use disorder patients described their introduction into narcotics.
Patient-Centered Approach
I believe in empowering my patients by involving them in their care decisions and tailoring treatment plans to their unique needs. I'm a certified buprenorphine prescriber with seven years of experience, and I've worked in various settings, including chronic pain management, detox, outpatient MAT services, rehab, and residential facilities, serving male and female populations aged 18 and older.
Personal Touch
Outside of my work, I find joy in reading, staying active through workouts, and cherishing precious moments with my family. I'm a proud mother of two, an 8-year-old son, and a 3-year-old daughter. My lifelong mission has always been to make a positive difference in the lives of others, a mission I wholeheartedly pursue in my role as a Nurse Practitioner.
I'm here to support my patients in improving their quality life and during their path to recovery. I am deeply committed to their well-being and success.

For over 30 years, I’ve helped frustrated women finally break free from chronic bloating, weight loss resistance, and hormonal chaos using personalized lab testing and a science-backed, functional medicine
approach.
So...why do I do what I do?
I’ve been there—frustrated, dismissed, and searching for real answers when traditional medicine failed me. After years of seeing women told their labs were “normal” while they still struggled, I dove deep into gut health, metabolism, and hormones to uncover what mainstream medicine was missing. Now, I help women finally break free from the cycle of symptoms and dead-end treatments—without extreme dieting, prescription overload, or one-size-fits-all plans. This keeps it personal, powerful, and concise while weaving in your journey. Does this feel aligned?
I believe every woman deserves a clear, data-driven plan to lose stubborn weight, heal her gut, and rebalance her hormones—so she can finally feel strong, lean, and in control again.

Stella Reid - Episodes 110-111
Hi, my name is Stella Reid and I’ve been a labor and delivery nurse for 34 years. I graduated from UW with my BSN. I did my senior practicum in high risk L&D and I some how got hired into L&D as a new grad. That just didn’t happen back then.
Funny how you can remember your first day of work. I remember walking into the report room and sitting down, and I was very obviously the youngest person in the room. I won’t say they were mean but I didn’t feel I belonged there either. I really had to prove myself for about 10 years!! Hahaha! Those OG L&D nurses never leave so I worked with the same crew for 20-25 years!!
I have done every job you can do in L&D and recently I have been a preceptor for many many new hires including new grads. I never wanted to teach but I have surprisingly really enjoyed precepting. My biggest reason is I do not like how nurses eat our young and I wanted to take a stand! I want new nurses to know they can always count on me for support and no question is a dumb question!! I am so excited the FOY podcast exists and I got to be an honored guest.

I’ve been fortunate to care for diverse patient populations in a variety of settings, and each role has shaped the nurse I am today.
One of my proudest accomplishments was serving as the RN Coordinator at the Providence Center for Congenital Heart Disease. I was instrumental in helping develop and launch the first nationally accredited program for adult congenital heart disease in the Spokane area — a program that is still thriving and changing lives to this day.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and will be returning to school this fall to pursue my Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Gonzaga University. My goal is to continue growing my clinical skills and knowledge so I can provide an even higher level of care to the patients and families I serve.
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me with my husband, my kids, and our three dogs. When the summer sun comes out, I come alive — I love paddle boarding, boating, hiking, and exploring this amazing planet we call home. Traveling is one of my greatest joys, and I’ve been lucky enough to visit some incredible places. Seeing the Matterhorn in its snowy glory on a sunny February morning is one of my all-time favorite memories!
